Welcome to Overlap Running
Personalized, friendly, & thoughtful run coaching for athletes who want sustainable progress and a person-first approach.
One-on-one coaching built around your life, your body, and your goals.

Who is Overlap Running?
Meet Hannah, your coach at Overlap Running. Hannah is not a professional athlete or an elite. Hannah is an everyday runner, just like most of you, who has devoted herself to understanding the science and magic that goes into nurturing a healthy and happy athlete. She is a lifelong lover and learner of the sport who believes in creating a sustainable relationship with running that meets you where you are and serves you. Thus, Overlap Running was born.
Who is this for?
For the busy, tired athlete who struggles to fit running in.
For the confused, overwhelmed athlete who doesn't know where to start.
For the pregnant or postpartum athlete buried under conflicting information.
For the new athlete who is searching for community and guidance.
For the plateaued, stalled athlete whose training needs a jump start.
For the solitary athlete who wants a partner in their journey.
For the motivated, confident athlete who wants to see what else is in the tank.
For the curious athlete who wants to support their running through a collaborative approach with other experts in the field (physical therapy, sports psych, nutrition, etc.)
I hope it is for you!

What we offer
Overlap Running offers personalized one-on-one coaching services. We use the V.O2 platform to upload training plans, stay in touch, and track progress. There are no tiers here -- all of our athletes get the same thing, and if you think you need anything specific that you don't see here, just ask. Our coaching services are here to serve you and your relationship with running, and those all look different.

Plans and approaches that are custom to YOU
Whether you are targeting a race, looking for accountability as you build base mileage, are just starting your running journey, or are doing something totally different, we make a plan that suits you.

Unlimited communication so that we both get the whole picture
No maximum number of emails or calls, no restrictions, no nickle-and-diming communication. We determine what method and frequency of communication works best for each athlete and we go from there. We are not hard to reach -- in fact, the more communication, the better!

A relationship meant to guide, support, cheer, and relate
We do not upload a plan and check out. We want to develop a long term and invested relationship with our athletes. Expect someone cheering you on at every milestone, race day check-ins, and a lot of getting to know you.
The philosophy behind Overlap
We approach coaching by getting to know you. We create programs and workouts, brainstorm race schedules, suggest strength training, modify, adjust, and adapt based on that relationship -- supported, of course, with science-backed information and current research. We look at you as a person, a whole person with a work schedule and a family and outside hobbies and priorities, and collaborate with you to find a way for your running goals to fit into your life and for you to thrive.
Hannah Shakeshaft is certified by UESCA and holds several additional specialty certifications supporting pregnant and postpartum athletes. Additionally, she stays up to date on new research, specifically those emerging studies centering around female athletes. She is a proponent of mythbusting and simplifying running, and heartily resents the elite, gatekeeping corner of the running world.
At Overlap, we believe that running can be for you, whoever you are.
Running does not look the same for everyone, and it all counts the same.
Running can be simple, straightforward, accessible.
Running can be deep depths of variables, a search for knowledge, as complicated as you want it to be.
Running can be a solo journey or a huge, community endeavor.
Maybe most importantly for our purposes here: at Overlap, we believe that not everyone has to have a running coach. You can be just fine without one. You can thrive without one. But if you've ever wondered if you're good enough to have a coach, if you're "enough of a runner" to have one, please know: YES. This is for everyone. This is a team effort. We're here to go after your goals together and celebrate every milestone along the way. Whether it's Overlap or someone else, find your fit and know that you belong here, runner.
